Putin Praises UAE’s Mediation in Major Russia-Ukraine Prisoner Exchange, Discusses Strategic Ties with Sheikh Mohamed
In a phone conversation, Russian President Vladimir Putin and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the president of the United Arab Emirates, underlined their shared commitment to enhancing their countries’ strategic cooperation.
Sheikh Mohamed thanked President Putin on the 80th anniversary of Victory Day, which was celebrated on May 9, and wished him tremendous success and progress for Russia and its people.
President Putin noted that the UAE had successfully mediated the largest prisoner exchange between Russia and Ukraine in April. He gave the UAE high marks for its tenacious diplomatic initiatives to build global trust and humanitarian collaboration.
The discussion focused on the United Arab Emirates’ close diplomatic ties with major world powers like Russia and its increasing clout as an impartial international mediator.
