RTA Launches 20 Community Initiatives for Ramadan, Spreading Generosity Across Dubai
Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has launched a range of community-based initiatives to mark the holy month of Ramadan. The 20 initiatives, which will be carried out across RTA’s headquarters, metro stations and marine transport hubs, aim to promote generosity, social engagement and inclusion during the holy month.
These initiatives aim to unite staff, volunteers, and community members in order to benefit the impoverished, orphans, cyclists, truck workers, metro users, and impoverished families. The kindness and camaraderie that characterize Ramadan are reflected in them, as well as Dubai’s cultural traditions.
Focus on Community Welfare
According to Abdullah Al Ali, CEO of the Corporate Administrative Support Services Sector at RTA, the goal of these initiatives is to assist various sections of society both within the UAE and internationally.
“This year, our initiatives focus on bus drivers, labourers, delivery riders, truck drivers, and individuals from low-income backgrounds. Our aim is to spread kindness and cooperation, reflecting RTA’s core values. These programs are also in line with the UAE’s vision of making 2025 ‘The Year of Community,’ which emphasizes the importance of solidarity and social responsibility,” he stated.
Ramadan Programs and Key Activities
Five major community outreach programs will commence from the first day of Ramadan:
- Iftar Saem Initiative: Designed in partnership with the Beit Al Khair Society, this program will provide meals to those in need so they can comfortably break their fast.
- Meals on Wheels: As part of an annual tradition, this program will begin serving lunch to truck and bus drivers, delivery riders, labor camps, and abra commuters during the second week of Ramadan.
- Engagements at Metro Stations: RTA will provide 5,000 Iftar meals at metro stations, and workers will get symbolic presents from special kiosks at a few sites.
- The Ramadan Rations Initiative will benefit low-income families by distributing basic food supplies via nol cards on Zayed Humanitarian Workday, which falls on the 19th day of Ramadan.
Internal Employee Well-Being Initiatives
RTA has organized 15 programs to improve its employees’ Ramadan experiences in addition to its external community efforts. These consist of:
- Group Iftars: Get-togethers for engineers, field workers, and other teams to foster camaraderie and a common experience at work.
- Winter Camp Iftars: A unique occasion for staff members to share in Ramadan customs.
- Support for Ramadan Rations: Giving employees in need financial aid in the form of vouchers so they have the supplies they need during the holy month.
- Meals on Wheels for Staff: As part of RTA’s internal welfare programs, low-income staff will now get meal distributions.
With the help of these initiatives, RTA hopes to improve community welfare and cultivate a giving culture, reaffirming its dedication to social responsibility and supporting the UAE’s long-term goal of fortifying relationships between communities.
