The Ras Al Khaimah Police have launched a new traffic safety campaign to address the rising concerns of speeding violations in the emirate. Col Dr Muhammad Al Bahar, the director of the Traffic and Patrols Department at the Ras Al Khaimah Police, emphasized the dangers of “insane speeds” and highlighted that such violations are not only a threat to the driver but also to others on the road.
The campaign aims to curb deadly accidents caused by reckless driving and speeding. Col Al Bahar urged all drivers to exercise caution and adhere to traffic regulations, emphasizing the strict monitoring of traffic offenses on both external and internal roads in the emirate.
To deter speeding violations, hefty fines have been outlined under Ministerial Resolution No. 178:
1. For exceeding the speed limit by more than 80 km/h: A fine of Dh3,000, 23 black points, and a 60-day vehicle impoundment.
2. For surpassing the limit by 60 km/h: A fine of Dh2,000, 12 black points, and a 30-day vehicle impoundment.
3. Penalties are also prescribed for those exceeding the speed limit by 20 km/h, with the complete list available for reference.
The announcement serves as a stark reminder to motorists about the serious consequences of speeding and underscores the commitment of authorities to ensure road safety for all.
