Muscat: The Sultanate will observe a three-day mourning period following the passing of the Emir of Kuwait.
According to a statement by the Diwan of Royal Court, His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik expressed deep sadness over the loss of His Highness Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, the Emir of Kuwait. He acknowledged Sheikh Nawaf’s dedication to serving Arab and Islamic nations and Kuwait’s progress.
As a mark of respect, official mourning will be observed, flags will fly at half-mast, and both government and private sectors will suspend operations for three days, starting from Saturday, December 16, 2023. Regular activities will resume on Tuesday, December 19, 2023.
The Sultanate stands in solidarity with Kuwait, extending condolences to the leadership, government, and people of Kuwait, praying for the Emir’s soul and offering solace to his family and the Kuwaiti people in this difficult time.
