In a significant gathering at the Arab Strategy Forum 2024, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai, emphasized the critical importance of resolving conflicts in the Arab world and fostering collective efforts for comprehensive prosperity. The forum, held under the theme “The Political and Economic State of the Arab World,” provided a platform for influential leaders, experts, and thought leaders to address pressing issues facing the region.
Sheikh Mohammed underscored the interconnectedness of regional security and prosperity, emphasizing the collective responsibility to build a better future for upcoming generations. He stressed the imperative need to steer clear of global polarizations for the sake of regional stability. Palestine, Sheikh Mohammed noted, holds a significant place in the collective consciousness, and the UAE has been at the forefront, advocating for an end to the conflict, protection of civilian lives, and providing humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip.
Highlighting the high human and resource costs of wars, Sheikh Mohammed called for an end to ongoing conflicts and emphasized the urgency of working towards lasting peace. The forum saw the presence of other dignitaries, including H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, and strategic experts from various fields.
Sheikh Mohammed spoke about the UAE’s unique geographical position as a bridge for humanitarian and cultural exchanges, emphasizing the country’s commitment to diversity in political, economic, and global perspectives. He expressed confidence that the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries would continue to strengthen their regional and global influence, engaging in economic diversification that would positively impact the region and the world.
The Minister of Cabinet Affairs and Chairman of the Arab Strategy Forum, Mohammad bin Abdullah Al Gergawi, outlined three key trends shaping the future. These included developments related to the Palestinian cause and the Gaza conflict, the emergence of GCC countries as global economic powers, and the growing intensity of polarization on international and societal levels.
The forum featured prominent speakers, including His Royal Highness Prince Turki Al Faisal bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Dr. Anwar Gargash, Nabil Fahmy, Dr. Ghassan Salame, and other thought leaders who provided valuable insights into the political and economic challenges facing the Arab world.
