Microsoft to Inject $74 Billion into UAE Economy, Boost Innovation and Jobs

An International Data Corporation (IDC) study, released at GITEX Global 2024, reveals that Microsoft and its partner network will contribute $74.4 billion in new revenues to the UAE economy. The report, titled Microsoft Cloud Dividend Snapshot for the UAE, emphasizes the significant role of Microsoft’s cloud services in strengthening the UAE’s digital economy, driving technological innovation, and generating employment opportunities.

Over the next four years, Microsoft and its partners will invest $5.1 billion in the UAE’s data center sectors, with a focus on providing services and products that drive local economic growth. This strategic investment will help companies adopt advanced technologies like cloud computing, artificial intelligence (AI) and remain competitive in the digital marketplace.

According to the report, Microsoft’s cloud initiatives will create 152,530 new employment in the UAE across multiple industries by 2028, helping to diversify the economy and promote sustainability.

Microsoft UAE General Manager Naim Yazbeck made the following statement: “Our ongoing investment in local data centres and the partner ecosystem reflects our commitment to empowering businesses and public institutions to innovate, foster economic growth, and create sustainable employment opportunities for the future.”

According to the IDC analysis, Microsoft’s cooperation with the UAE government matches with the country’s broader economic and digital transformation goals, increasing the adoption of cloud solutions and AI-powered services. With this investment, Microsoft hopes to provide the groundwork for long-term digital growth, ensuring that both the public and private sectors benefit from improved security, efficiency, and creativity.
