Indian woman executed in UAE for infant's alleged murder, Centre informs Delhi HC

New Delhi, March 4-A woman from UP was hanged in Abu Dhabi for killing her 4-month-old baby.
Shahzadi Khan, 33, from Uttar Pradesh’s Banda district, had gone to Abu Dhabi in the West Asian country of the United Arab Emirates in 2001 to work as a domestic helper.

The owner of the house where she worked gave birth to a baby in August 2022. Shahzadi Khan was taking care of the baby. Suddenly, in December 2022, the baby died.

The Abu Dhabi police registered a case and investigated Shahzadi Khan for killing the baby. He was sentenced to death in this case.

Shahzadi Khan’s appeal and mercy petition were rejected one after another. Her father, Shabir Khan, who lives in UP, tried to get her through the embassy in India but failed.

After months of no news, Shabir Khan filed a petition in the Delhi High Court seeking information about his daughter. When the petition came up for hearing in the Delhi High Court yesterday, a report was filed on behalf of the Ministry of External Affairs.

It stated that Shahzadi Khan was hanged on February 15 and the information about this was received on February 28. It also stated that his last rites are scheduled to be performed tomorrow.

The judge, who expressed shock after reading the report, said, “This is a very unfortunate incident” and closed the case.
