Kolkata Captain Wins $1 Million in Dubai Duty Free Draw

Sanjay Ghosh, a 57-year-old Indian oil tanker captain from Kolkata, has won an incredible $1 million (approximately ₹8.55 crore) in the latest Dubai Duty Free Millennium Millionaire draw, marking a pivotal moment in his life.
Ghosh, who has been participating in Dubai Duty Free promotions since 2009, held the lucky ticket number 3443 from Series 496, which he had purchased online on March 24. Sharing his reaction to the win, Ghosh said, “I had a strong feeling since yesterday, especially after receiving the email from Dubai Duty Free about the draw. When I saw a UAE number calling while I was on the bridge, I just knew — this is it!”
With this incredible win, Ghosh becomes the 247th Indian national to claim the top prize since the launch of the Millennium Millionaire promotion in 1999. Expressing gratitude, he added, “Thank you so much, Dubai Duty Free. I can now retire peacefully and enjoy life with my family.”
Syrian Engineer Also Hits the Jackpot
Joining Ghosh in this round of lucky winners is Maed Hassan, a 64-year-old Syrian mechanical engineer based in Abu Dhabi. Hassan, who has lived in the UAE for 33 years, has been a frequent participant for almost ten years. He won the $1 million prize with ticket number 0291 in series 496. Interestingly, Hassan had already won a high-end Mercedes-Benz S500 in October 2023, proving that coincidences can happen twice.

Jayaram Kodialbail, from India, won a Mercedes-Benz S500 (Graphite Grey Metallic) with ticket number 1107 in Series 1915.
