Group of 7 arrested for witchcraft practicing

A gang of seven in the United Arab Emirates has been sentenced to six months in prison and ordered to pay a fine of Dh50,000 for practicing witchcraft and cheating others.

Federal Decree-Law No. 2021 of 2021 promulgating the Crimes and Punishments Law of the United Arab Emirates. According to 31, witchcraft and fraud are offenses punishable with severe punishment.

In this case, the seven assailants claimed to be witches and deceived people. According to the UAE Public Prosecution, a victim of witchcraft fraud reported this. Subsequently, they have been referred to the court on seven major charges of witchcraft, cheating and possessing witchcraft.

Officials also said that one of the accused claimed to have a 400-year-old ‘gene’ inside him, while the rest of the accused claimed to have a similar ‘gene’ in them that heals people. After this they have been sentenced to 6 months imprisonment and a fine of 50,000 dirhams.

It is also noted that the authorities have called on residents to report any suspicious activities related to witchcraft to prevent such crimes.
