Dubai Mall to Introduce Paid Parking in Partnership with Salik from July 1
Dubai Mall announced on Wednesday that it will introduce paid parking in collaboration with Salik Company starting July 1. This significant move aims to enhance parking availability and improve the overall visitor experience at one of the world’s largest and most visited shopping and entertainment destinations. The new paid parking system will be implemented in specific parking areas, namely Grand Parking, Cinema Parking, and Fashion Parking, while Zabeel and Fountain Views parking locations will remain complimentary.
Under the new system, on weekdays, motorists will benefit from free parking for the first four hours. After this period, they will be charged progressively, with fees ranging from Dh20 to Dh1,000 depending on the length of their stay. On weekends, visitors will enjoy free parking for the first six hours, with charges applied on an hourly basis thereafter.

The announcement in December 2023 set the stage for this change, indicating that paid parking would be introduced at Dubai Mall in cooperation with Salik, featuring a barrier-free system. Salik announced its cooperation with Emaar Malls, the operator of Dubai Mall, stating that this partnership would “deliver a seamless and efficient parking management system at Dubai Mall.” According to the terms of the agreement, Salik’s technology will be deployed to enable a smooth, barrier-free parking experience for mall customers. The introduction of paid parking is expected to improve parking availability, ensuring a more convenient and efficient visit for all visitors to the mall. By freeing up spaces, the system aims to make it easier for guests to find parking quickly and easily.
In an official statement, the mall emphasized, “This new approach is not just about parking; it is about providing a seamless experience for every guest from the moment they arrive. By implementing this system, we are ensuring that our guests can enjoy a hassle-free visit, with the confidence that their parking needs are well taken care of.” Ahmed Almatrooshi of Emaar Properties added that this initiative aligns with the mall’s commitment to enhancing the guest experience through innovative technologies, in collaboration with Salik. He noted that this collaboration highlights Emaar’s dedication to continually improving services and setting new benchmarks in retail and leisure.

How Parking Fees Will Be Charged:
The automatic fee collection for ticketless parking will be managed using vehicle plate recognition technology. The barrier-free parking system will utilize the same automatic number plate recognition and radio frequency identification (RFID) technology employed for tracking tags by Salik.
A camera will capture the vehicle’s plate number upon entry, recording the entry time. At the exit, the camera will scan the plate number again, and the system will calculate the parking duration. This technology ensures a seamless and efficient process, eliminating the need for physical tickets or barriers.
This integration of smart technology aims to streamline the parking process, reduce wait times, and provide a hassle-free experience for visitors.
