Bangladesh to Play Two T20Is in UAE Ahead of Pakistan Tour
Bangladesh is set to play a short two-match T20I series against the United Arab Emirates before heading to Pakistan for a longer assignment. According to an announcement by the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) on May 2, the matches will take place at Sharjah Cricket Stadium on May 17 and May 19, both starting at 7:00 pm local time.
This mini-series marks the second time in three years that Bangladesh will engage in a bilateral T20I series against the UAE, following their 2022 encounter in Dubai. The series is being seen as a valuable preparation opportunity for both sides—Bangladesh ahead of a packed international season, and the UAE in the lead-up to the ACC Men’s T20 Asia Cup.
Emirates Cricket Board COO Subhan Ahmad expressed enthusiasm about hosting another ICC Full Member nation. He noted that the ECB is committed to offering competitive platforms for the UAE team and has hosted major teams like New Zealand, West Indies, and Afghanistan in recent years.
Nizamuddin Chowdhury, CEO of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), praised the chance as well, saying the series would aid the Tigers in preparing for a challenging international schedule and strengthen cricketing ties between the two countries.
Bangladesh’s preparation for forthcoming important competitions like the Asia Cup will continue when they travel to Pakistan to play in a five-match T20I series after the UAE leg.
