Anticipated Long Weekends on the Horizon for UAE Residents

As UAE employees gear up to return to work after an extended weekend in honor of Prophet Mohammed’s (PBUH) birthday, there’s another leisurely break on the horizon. With the UAE Commemoration Day falling on a Friday this year, followed by the grand National Day celebrations on a Saturday and Sunday, residents are likely to enjoy a three-day weekend filled with unity, culture, and national pride.

Commemoration Day, previously known as Martyrs’ Day, is observed on December 1 annually. The authorities have a tradition of combining this solemn occasion with the jubilant National Day festivities, offering residents an extended break to commemorate the sacrifices of the nation’s heroes.

While the anticipation for the forthcoming long weekend is palpable, the exact number of holidays will be confirmed by official announcements from the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources (FAHR) and the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE). Until then, residents are eagerly awaiting the chance to plan memorable celebrations.

As the year progresses, the UAE will come alive with vibrant fireworks, spectacular events, and a lively atmosphere, promising an unforgettable end to the year. Looking ahead to the first half of 2024, those planning an extended trip can anticipate a 9-day break for Eid Al Fitr, expected to fall on April 10, 2024, pending official moon sighting announcements.
