Afghanistan Hit by Second Earthquake This Week, Magnitude 4.6 Jolts the Nation

Afghanistan experienced its second earthquake of the week, registering a magnitude of 4.6 on the Richter Scale, as reported by the National Centre for Seismology (NCS). The tremors were felt at 6:39 am (IST) on Friday, originating from a depth of 50 kilometres.

As of the latest update, no casualties have been reported due to the quake.

This event follows a stronger earthquake on October 11, which measured 6.1 on the Richter scale. Occurring at a depth of 10 kilometres, it took place at 6:11 am (IST). The epicenter was located in Afghanistan, with the Herat province being heavily affected. Reports indicate that over 4,000 lives were lost, and numerous residential buildings were destroyed as a result of the tremor and its subsequent aftershocks.
