Abu Dhabi ranked world's safest city

Abu Dhabi has clinched the top spot on Numbeo’s list of the world’s safest cities for the eighth consecutive year, as reported by the online database. Joining Abu Dhabi in the ranks of safety are Ajman, Dubai, and Ras Al Khaimah, which all secured places among the top six safest cities globally.

The distinction comes as Abu Dhabi boasts the highest safety index (86.8) and the lowest crime levels (13.1) on Numbeo’s scale. In contrast, Caracas, located in Venezuela, scored the lowest with a crime index of 82.2 and a safety index of 17.8. Numbeo evaluates 329 cities based on their crime index, with lower levels indicating safer environments.

Numbeo defines a crime index below 20 as “very low,” between 20 and 40 as “low,” 40 to 60 as “moderate,” 60 to 80 as “high,” and anything above 80 as “very high.” Conversely, a high safety index indicates a city’s overall safety, with Numbeo analyzing 331 cities for this metric.

Abu Dhabi’s consistent top ranking reflects the emirate’s commitment to implementing top-tier security standards and enhancing the quality of life for its inhabitants and visitors. Major-General Staff Pilot Faris Khalaf Al Mazrouei, Commander-in-Chief of Abu Dhabi Police, emphasized that the city’s unwavering dedication to security has bolstered its global appeal and attractiveness.

He noted that a city renowned for its safety and stability fosters trust among citizens, investors, and governmental entities, leading to positive engagement and cooperation across various developmental sectors. Abu Dhabi has maintained Numbeo’s title of the world’s safest city since 2017.

Major-General Maktoum Ali Al Sharifi, Director-General of Abu Dhabi Police, attributed this achievement to the leadership’s prioritization of security within the emirate. He highlighted investments in training visionary leaders, fostering innovative policing methods, and leveraging advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence and big data.

Furthermore, Al Sharifi emphasized collaboration with stakeholders, including the community, to ensure sustainable safety and security measures. Abu Dhabi’s success in maintaining its status as the world’s safest city underscores its unwavering commitment to excellence in security and its dedication to providing a secure environment for all.
