Abu Dhabi Police Officials issued a reminder to motorists…
Abu Dhabi Police have warned motorists to avoid overtaking vehicles from the edge of the road. Further, such acts will be treated as a severely punishable traffic violation and a fine of Dh1,000 will be levied for these violations, officials said.
In addition, a video explaining the dangers and consequences of overtaking from the side of the road in coordination with Abu Dhabi Police Monitoring and Control Center (Monitoring and Control Center) has been published on social media as part of the “You Comment” initiative.
Meanwhile, the Directorate of Traffic and Patrols has described the need for proper overtaking procedures. Motorists are reminded that the edge of the road is specifically reserved for emergency and non-emergency vehicles.
This means that this road edge can be crucial for quick access to the accident scene and saving the lives of the victims. According to the UAE Federal Traffic Law, these violations are punishable by a fine of Dh1,000 and 6 traffic points.
Apart from that, the Abu Dhabi Police has advised motorists to maintain a safe distance between vehicles while traveling on the roads.
