Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Plants Sapling at Rajghat

New Delhi, Sep 9: Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Khalid bin Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi at the Rajghat during his official visit to India, marking a historic moment in the long-standing relationship between the UAE and India.

In a remarkable gesture, the crown prince planted a sapling at Rajghat, the third generation head of the UAE and a member of the royal family.

Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal posted on X, “Footprints of the Great Spirit for a Green Planet: Following a historical tradition, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Khalid bin Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan planted a sapling. Today in Rajgat, sustainability represents the universal teachings of the Mahatma.

The Crown Prince’s first official visit to India was at the invitation of Prime Minister Modi.

On his arrival in New Delhi on September 9, 2024, Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal on Saturday welcomed him and felicitated him with honours.

Accompanied by ministers, senior officials and a large business delegation, Sheikh Khalid held discussions with the Prime Minister, the President and various industry leaders in Delhi.

The visit will continue in Mumbai where the Crown Prince will attend high-level business meetings aimed at further expanding trade and bilateral ties between India and the UAE.
